Pride and Prejudice
I bought another new camera. The photo at the top of this very page was taken with this new camera. That photo is completely unedited except for the little “wave” signature in the lower right. As you can see, it’s a very nice camera. The internet at Jack’s has been extremely spotty lately otherwise I’d have more pictures up, I’ll be doing my best over the next few to try to post some images from around town. I definitely need to post some pictures of Steve, of John Castaldo, and of Matt Rodriguez. The former two are my good friends of whom I’ve only known these past few months. The latter name is a guy that I knew half my life ago and hadn’t seen or spoken to in the past ten years. Thanks to myspace we’re talking again. Myspace… and Matt was really really really bored.
This post isn’t about pictures and people however it’s about Pride and Prejudice…
That’s a stretch. It’s about me having some spare time on my hands and access to a free library filled with some of the worlds finest written titles. Jane Austen’s classic being one of them. Project Gutenberg (I know I’ve mentioned this organization before) has made it possible for anyone with an internet connection to download a presently monolithic and ever growing collection of books. Over 25,000 have been copied into the site so far I think. I was recently browsing B Dalton and had run my fingers along the spines of some of the understood greats like “The Count of Monte Cristo” “The Three Musketeers” “Pride and Prejudice” and “Crime and Punishment.” I was amused at the thought of paying $25 for a copy of any of these being that the copyright on each one has expired more than decades ago, and I did like any of you with a piece of good music would do, I downloaded them all.
I’m ten chapters into Pride and Prejudice. It is very frilly. I am reading the account of some of the silliest women I’ve ever heard of.
I’ve taken up the Rosetta Stone language learning software again. Something more practical this time. Spanish. It suits the more immediate circumstances I think. In a state where the majority of the fast food employees are bilingual or even trilingual I’ve felt a bit linguistically gimped. Hopefully my brain will be so big I’ll win something for having a big massively deformed head and sell the award for money.
May 12th. Headache is fading.
