The City in Pixels…

This is not a complete set. I took heaps more photos but these three are my favorite of that entire day of more than 80 images, Museum of Natural History included. Links to the galleried remainder of the images can be found at the bottom. The following images are entirely unedited and have been imported RAW.

The thing that mattered most.
The Thing That Mattered Most
Times Square | there was a flow of attention from one end of the square to another. The weather has been warm enough to attract the tourists again and they were all out in droves moving from one end of the scene to another. Something caught their attention and they all turned to take pictures and point and shout and notice it. This guy in the center, and myself, never even turned around.

Standing Room

Standing Room
Standing Room | best viewed large. I was sitting on one of the construction separators that are supposed to keep people from walking into an open trench. It’s the exact same spot as I took the last picture and I snapped this one off just a minute or so after. It’s rare to see this much open sidewalk in Times Square. I saw it, and made this impossible capture.

Panic
Panic
Panic | Also better when large. This image ties with the one just above it for my day’s favorite. Still in New York City. I’m lost somewhere in uptown with just my backpack full of I (heart) NY t-shirts and the camera attached to my keychain and bouncing dangerously at my hip. I was actually aiming for the stacks behind the cab. The cars on all their little elevators, a novelty shot to tell the folks back in Missouri, yes- this is how they all park in NYC. This taxi leapt in and completely stole the shot making it the most beautiful accident I think I’ve ever photographed. Note: the guy with the white shirt and windblown tie saw me just before I hit the shutter. LOVE this.

I can’t believe that’s how they park up there….that is perhaps the weirdest thing I’ve seen in a photograph….
